About ChargePulse and our data
ChargePulse is a fast, independent directory of public EV charging stations in the United States and Canada. It exists because finding a reliable charger should not require downloading an app or creating an account. Every page loads in a fraction of a second, works on any phone, and gives you the facts that matter: charging speed, plug types, price, hours and directions.
Where the data comes from
Station information comes from the U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC), the official national database maintained for the U.S. Department of Energy. It covers public stations in both the US and Canada and is updated continuously by charging networks, station owners and the AFDC team. We currently list 99,192 locations in 64 states and provinces.
How we process it
- Daily refresh. We download the full dataset every day and rebuild the site, so new and closed stations appear quickly.
- Plain-language connectors. Network codes are translated into the names drivers use: NACS, CCS1, J1772 and CHAdeMO.
- Real speeds first. Charging power comes from each connector's published rating. When a network has not published it, we show a conservative "up to" figure and label it as an estimate.
- Readable prices. Free-text pricing is turned into comparable per-kWh, per-minute or per-hour figures where possible; the original wording is always shown too.
Corrections
If a station is closed, mislabelled or missing, email [email protected]. You can also report it directly to the AFDC using the "report a change" link on their station locator, which updates every service that uses the data.
Independence
ChargePulse is not affiliated with any charging network or automaker. The site is supported by advertising. Ads never influence station rankings, which are based only on location, speed and the data above.
